About Frantoi Cutrera
For several generations the Cutrera family has been dedicated to the cultivation of olive trees and the production of extra virgin olive oil, a profession carried out for decades with the passion and love that binds this family to its land. The origins of the company date back more than a century ago. Documents show that in 1906 the Cutrera family was already dedicated to the cultivation and care of olive trees in Chiaramonte Gulfi, a small village in the south-eastern part of Sicily.
Giovanni Cutrera, the head of the family, founded the first oil mill in 1979, with the help of his wife Maria, after growing up working in an old mill with millstones in which mules and presses were still used.
Over the years, Giovanni's children - Maria the eldest, Giusy, the second, and finally Salvatore, the youngest - have joined their father in his company. In 1999, an important year for the future of Frantoi Cutrera, Giovanni, with the encouragement of the whole family, decided to open a second mill.
But that wasn't enough! The whole family and the local producers were aware of the quality of the oil produced in the Iblei Mountains, so they decided to find a way to market it beyond the local market. It was a gamble that current results show paid off.
Since 2000, Cutrera has been managed by Maria, Giusy and Salvatore with their spouses and for some years now the third generation has also begun to join the management of the family business. Looking ahead to the future, never forgetting the past, a good mix of tradition and innovation, this is the mission that allowed the family to obtain the important results achieved.
Even if the management of the company is in the hands of their three children, Giovanni and Maria have left a precious legacy made up of principles, values and knowledge that each of the members of the company puts into practice in every action that is carried out on a daily basis.
Frantoi Cutrera currently has two plants with three extraction lines, a warehouse for oil storage, a modern bottling plant, manages more than 50 hectares of olive groves in the Iblei Mountains and exports the precious olive oil to more than 30 countries in the world.
